School and community projects

In 2016 I had the privedge of coming up with a plan to design and paint a large scale outdoor school mural as part of Beaconside Primary School's Arts Week. The mural had to be bright and colourful, include the school house mascots be something that all puplis could contribute to and feel ownership of. I prepared the walls with a colourful backdrop including pictures of the mascots then every child from nursery to year 6 put their handprint in their indivdually mixed shade of green on their house tree and designed and painted their own flower to go underneath their tree. I have to say this was one of the most fun things I have ever done, it's an awesome school.

When Rubery In Bloom decided to plant a poppy patch in the village to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, they asked me if I could pyrograph some war poetry on some beautiful pieces of oak to be made into plaques ,to be placed inbetween the poppies as they came up. This was a wonderful community project and included children from the local primary and senior schools working with the Rubery in Bloom team. We were rewarded with the most wonderful display of poppies that came up, a beautiful and touching tribute.
